Frequently Asked Questions

What is a referral?

A referral is when your primary veterinary surgeon sends you to another practice for further investigation or treatments that can not be carried out with them.  This can arise for a variety of reasons.

Can Southpaw help my pet?

If your pet is lame or has been diagnosed with a bone or joint problem then Southpaw can help you. If you are unsure then please call or email us and we will be happy to advise you.

How can I be referred to Southpaw?

Just ask your veterinary surgeon to contact us requesting the referral. This can be done via the contact form on the website or by email or phone. Once we have received your information we will contact you to arrange an appointment

If I have been referred elsewhere can I still come to Southpaw?

Yes. As the client you are entitled to be referred to the practice of your choice. Just ask your veterinary surgeon to refer you to Southpaw. Once this has been done and we have received your information we will contact you to arrange an appointment.

Will my pet need to have surgery?

Not necessarily. We will discuss the options for your pet with you and this may include non surgical and surgical managements. We will only recommend surgery if we believe it is in the best interests of your pet.
